Christmas Cookies

Christmas cookies have arrived at Decorated Delectables.
Creating beautiful Christmas cookies is the reason that I first began cookie decorating , so it is very exciting to share Christmas cookies with other families this year!

Halloween Cookies

These scary cookies were made for a frightening Halloween party.
The request was for scary cookies, not cute, so none of these pumpkins are very happy. The other terrifying cookies included...
Spider webs with black widows crawling on them,
vampires, mummies and Frankensteins,
and baby animals - scarified!
 Dancing skeletons,
and a candelabra for a little bit of mood lighting.

 Flying vampire bats,
and eyeballs that can't believe what they are seeing,
and wolves howling at the full moon.
This haunted house cookies is filled with ghosts, goblins and blood soaked rooms. It is the biggest Decorated Delectables cookie ever made - 10 cm by 15 cm - what a mouthful!
If you ask for scary cookies, you will receive gravestones with the names of you and your loved ones on them!
Here's the rest of them, everything scary you can think of, all on one plate.

Keeping with the Halloween food theme, here I am; a pig in a blanket!

Cardinal Cookie Bouquet

These cookies were made for a lovely woman who loves cardinals, on her 90th birthday.
I was very excited to make these cookie. I have a "bird thing" lately. So much so that I'm planning a bird themed wedding. Ironically, the day before I was contacted about these cookies, I had been looking at a cardinal shaped cookie cutter and trying to find an excuse to buy it, but I just couldn't justify it.
Needless to say, I didn't need much persuading to go back to the store and pick it up the next day. Clearly it was meant to be.

Along with the cardinals went some teapots, hearts and flowers, including some roses, the recipients favorite.

Fall is Here!

Autumn is here, and with it comes all things fall...

...beautiful fall foliage...

...squirrels that think they can run out onto the road any time they want...

...big fat pumpkins...

...colourful leaves...

...and turkeys of all shapes and sizes. I don't have a turkey cookie cutter, and didn't feel the need to spend hours cutting out turkey shapes. Look closely and you'll see that these are love turkeys, a Canadian turkey and some flower power turkeys. You didn't realize the species came in those breeds did you?

What better time to celebrate a birthday than among all the fallen leaves and juicy pumpkins...

Speaking of pumpkins, I think I picked a pretty good one this year. It didn't exactly come straight off the vine like this, but a little time and energy made it just what I was looking for. I seem to have a strange addiction to glitter every year around this time, so don't be surprised if you see some cookies with a little extra edible shimmer to them!

Fond Summer Memory Cookies

Fall is here, but before we say hello to falling leaves and pumpkins, we have to say goodbye to Summer. So long ice cream, till we meet again at Christmas time when candy cane ice cream appears in the freezer.
See you next year beautiful flowers, you are being replaced with gorgeous leaves and fall foliage.

Goodbye watermelon, you will be missed! These cookies were actually made for a summer birthday, but they will serve as a reminder of things to look forward to during the cold months!

Vroom Vroom! Classic Car Cookies

These were made to raise money at a classic car show in New Hamburg Ont.
Apparently they look like a 1957 Chevy. I'm going to pretend that that is what I had in mind when they were iced. To be honest, they remind me of my '94 Cavalier, affectionately referred to as "Labomba".
Don't you wish that cars still came in these colours?

Some More Summer Snacks

These aren't quite as crunchy as the original, and taste a little more sweet than salty!

Whoo wouldn't want some of these owl cookies?

Bad puns aside, I had been looking for an excuse to make owl cookies and was delighted to create these for a baby shower to welcome a little girl into the world.
Who can resist those beady eyes?

Each and every owl was just a little bit different.

The pink, green and brown colours that were requested looked great together and completely complemented each other.

Which one is your favourite?

BULLS EYE! Archery Cookies

This bouquet was made for the 65th  birthday of a local archery store owner and lover of everything outdoors.
These cookies are actually inspired by the shop logo. The black archers are icing transfers that replicate the actual logo.

I might be hopeless with a bow and arrow but these guys hit a bulls eye every time.

Taking aim at turning 65.

Take your best shot!

Yes, I had the opportunity to make an outhouse cookies! The collection was inspired by the love of archery and everything related to the outdoors. In particular, the fire place and outhouse were inspired by a property owned by the recipient showcases a fire pit and outhouse.
